European Degrees

ESCO, the School of Communication and Marketing of Granada, has been a collaborative centre of the University of Wales, UK, since 2001. The degrees we offer – Journalism, Advertising and Public Relations, Audiovisual Communication and Marketing and Business – are validated annually by the University of Wales, which is part of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).

Each of our graduates is awarded an Official European Diploma Supplement by the University of Wales, as well as the diploma that is conferred by ESCO.

Founded by Royal Charter in 1893, the University of Wales is the degree-awarding body for a number of higher education students at institutions in Wales, as well as for many at other partner institutions in the United Kingdom and overseas. To date, the University has awarded over 600,000 degrees.

Every year since 2001, ESCO has successfully passed the inspections carried out by representatives of the University of Wales, who visit us every year to certify that our School meets their standards of academic excellence.

Official European Diploma Supplement

As well as the diploma awarded by ESCO, each of our graduates receives an Official European Diploma Supplement from the University of Wales.

Statements about the validity of degrees awarded within the EHEA

Ms Cristina Garmendia, Minister of Science and Innovation in 2009:  “academically they are automatically recognised by the Spanish higher education system: this is Bolonia.”.

Mr Ángel Gabilondo, Spanish Minister of Education in 2009: “[these degrees] offer more opportunities to learn in more innovative and participative environments, and are valid in at least 46 countries.”

Mr Carlos Berzosa, Vice-Chancellor of the Complutense University of Madrid and President of the Spanish Vice-Chancellors’ Association (CRUE) in 2010: “the Bolonia Plan is essentially an academic convergence to promote mobility between undergraduate and postgraduate studetns, as well a system which will enable the validation of degrees within the European Higher Education Area.”

Mr Federico Gutiérrez-Solana, PresidentVice-Chancellors’ Association and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cantabria in 2010: The European Higher Education Area is a space where degrees are mutually recognised, avoiding the need for validation altogether. A degree issued within the EHEA will enjoy this advantage.”
